Dissolving Duality ~ Being ONE

Blessings abound within. This is my truth.  Within this eloquent unfolding I experience profound depth of emotion and feeling.  In my early childhood, the intensity of my emotional spectrum exploded into vivid colour.  This experience was precipitated and greatly intensified by the trauma of separation, at aged three, from my mother. Within the pain of this experience, I felt something truly extraordinary.  The intensity of duality, the pain of separation, and - remarkably - the experience of being at Oneness.  Nurtured within the cosmic embrace of the divine mother, I felt the essence of being ONE, with All That Is. Within this awareness moments of darkness spontaneously dissolve into Light. 

The separation event was imbued with much energy.  At the time, my mother was on the verge of breakdown and felt she had no choice but to literally run away, to leave us.  Significantly, my memory of this event has been richly coloured by my father and those close to me. At the time, those responsible for my care were themselves struggling to come to terms with what had happened.  My emotional sensitivity became overwhelmed as I  empathically took on the hurt and pain being projected by those around me. Upon reflection I realize that over time I began to believe that I was unworthy of being loved. This limiting belief was continually (though I believe not intentionally) reinforced by parental conditioning.  I felt separate, alone and afraid. The messages streaming in from around me further aggravated my woundedness.  I became completely identified with the experience of separation.

Over the years I have devoted my self to healing the rift, to bridging the great chasm of separation within my heart. I know that I am supported always by what I can only inadequately describe as a Higher Power.  This divine knowing has always been with me: nurturing me and guiding me beyond the veils of illusion. Teaching me through experience about the phenomena of duality.

I have come to learn that as human beings, we are immersed within a world of subjective and objective experience. This means that when I see and experience the shimmering radiance of the rising sun, the colours, energies and vibrations I perceive are unique.  They would not be the same as the colours, energies and vibrations perceived by another.  Yet there is a unifying quality.  The sun rising. 

So often I witness myself focussing on the differences expressed through personality and form. This is the experience of duality.  This day I am reminded to focus only on love.

Duality is intensifed when we focus on the differences, or on what we perceive may be missing.  Within this world of subjective - objective experience we tend towards complete identification with personality and form, you and I.  The mind continually takes in information, compares it  with previously gathered data (memories, experiences and so forth) and formulates a judgement or idea. Thus we may find ourselves in a seemingly endless cycle of judgement and comparison, as ‘I’ feelings are triggered by external influences. Yet it is the experience of “being” human that enables us to fully experience and connect with the truth, and herein lies the paradox.

Significantly within this grand adventure we call life we are gifted with various opportunities to learn, grow, experience, heal, consolidate and relate, all within a world of subjective and objective experience, as you and I.    We are gifted with an unlimited supply of relationships with others, and regardless of how we choose to perceive these interactions: every connection has a divine purpose.

Within this vast, wondrous unfolding, we get to play out many experiences within a dance of cosmic souls. As human beings, we each have a personal responsibility towards living, expressing and radiating spirit (the highest vibration of Love). Our divine task is to remember who we are, and once again experience ourselves as pure, unconditioned consciousness. This is enlightenment.

There is a perception that enlightenment is the highest spiritual attainment, yet enlightenment is just the beginning. You might say enlightenment is like a marker, or prerequisite, heralding the journey of liberation. As One experiences the illumined soul within the perceived containment of individualized form, the mind perceives a split. Enlightened consciousness guides us towards the truth of our being and our ultimate divine destiny. 

I truly believe that to initiate transformational change in our world, we must first dissolve our experience of duality. This means that within the experience of subject - object, you and I, we align and entrain the mind towards the endless love that we are.  Within those experiences of duality, perceived lack, fragmentation, and confusion we need to awaken the memory that we are love; to attune our mind with the highest vibration of love. Meditation, contemplation, observation, prayer, contemplation and non-attachment are like keys that unlock the higher aspects of consciousness - all the while accelerating and liberating individualized consciousness. In this way, all aspects of being are gradually, or sometimes spontaneously consolidated into One liberated soul.
